Anger Management

  • Our Anger Management Group is a structured, skill-based program designed to help individuals better understand, manage, and express anger in safe, effective, and constructive ways. This program is appropriate for self-referred participants as well as those involved in court, DCFS, or other systems requiring anger management services.
Anger is a normal and often protective emotion. However, when it is misunderstood or poorly managed, it can lead to negative consequences in relationships, work, and overall well-being. This program focuses on helping participants move beyond simply reacting to anger and toward understanding the underlying processes that drive it.
Participants will engage in weekly live telehealth sessions in a small group format. Each session builds on the previous one, creating a clear progression from awareness to skill development and long-term behavior change. What Participants Will Learn
Throughout the program, participants will develop practical skills in the following areas:
    • Emotional Awareness
    • Learn to identify and differentiate emotions beyond anger, increasing insight into underlying feelings such as stress, frustration, or hurt.
    • Trigger Identification
    • Recognize both internal and external triggers and begin identifying personal patterns that contribute to anger responses.
    • Understanding the Anger Cycle
    • Break down the sequence of events, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that lead to escalation.
    • Cognitive Awareness & Reframing
    • Identify thinking patterns such as assumptions and personalization, and develop more balanced interpretations of situations.
    • Emotional Regulation Skills
    • Learn practical techniques to reduce physiological arousal and interrupt escalation before it leads to reactive behavior.
    • Impulse Control & Behavioral Management
    • Build the ability to pause, step away, and make intentional decisions rather than reacting automatically.
    • Communication & Boundaries
    • Develop assertive communication skills to express needs, set boundaries, and reduce conflict in relationships.
    • Accountability & Long-Term Change
    • Take responsibility for behavior, practice repair when needed, and create a plan for continued growth beyond the program.
