Justin McKevitt

MSW, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a background shaped by both direct service and system-level experience. I served in the United States Army from 2010 to 2015, an experience that continues to influence my approach to structure, accountability, and practical problem-solving in my work today.

Education and Background

I completed my undergraduate education through Alamo Community Colleges in 2017 and Austin Peay State University in 2019, followed by my graduate training at the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2021. My professional experience spans multiple systems of care, including juvenile justice, medical social work, and behavioral health. I have worked as a juvenile probation officer, as well as a dialysis and transplant social worker, supporting individuals and families navigating complex medical and psychosocial challenges.

Clinical Experience

Clinically, my work includes supporting individuals experiencing addiction, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and a range of mental health concerns. I have also worked extensively with couples, focusing on how addiction and other mental health conditions impact communication, stability, and overall relationship functioning.

In addition, I have worked in hospital-based Employee Assistance Programs during and following the COVID-19 pandemic, with a primary focus on grief, stress, and adjustment.

Affirming and Inclusive Care

My experience includes working with members of the transgender community pursuing gender affirmation, as well as individuals and families navigating sexual orientation and identity-related concerns. I have also provided affirming therapy within family systems, supporting both individuals and their support networks.

Personal Perspective

In addition to my clinical work, I bring a personal understanding of system complexity as an adoptive parent. This perspective informs my approach to working with families, particularly those navigating adoption-related dynamics and challenges.

Approach to Care

My approach to therapy is structured and practical. I focus on integrating research, evidence-based practices, and educational frameworks with real-world application. The goal is not only to develop insight, but to ensure that what is learned in therapy can be applied consistently in everyday life.

I aim to provide care that is clear, grounded, and responsive to the realities individuals and families face, supporting meaningful and sustainable change over time.
